You can help! How SociaLites can support Haiti.

UPDATED JANUARY 20, 2009

SociaLites,

Please take a moment today to think about how you can assist the relief efforts helping the millions of Haitians who have been devastated by the recent earthquake.

A few options to consider:

JOIN THE "WALK FOR HAITI"

From the event organisers:

At 5:30 pm on Wednesday January 20, pull on your sneakers and join the Rotary family at Emancipation Park to “Walk for Haiti”. Led by the Rotary Club of Trafalgar, New Heights, the walk-a-thon is a fundraiser for Rotary District 7020’s disaster relief fund for humanitarian supplies and other pressing needs on the ground in Haiti.

"WELL HEELED IN HAITI"

From the event organisers:

ODPEM has now forged an alliance with Well Heeled Jamaicans to stage a massive logistics and sorting exercise this coming weekend, from Saturday January 23 to Sunday January 24, 2010 at ODPEM with the main focus being on shoes. ODPEM new address @ 2-4 Haining Rd, the former USAID building. You can bring clothes too as ODPEM will have teams on hand to collect those.

Our group Well Heeled Jamaicans “From Our Soles to Yours” was founded in 2008 with a singular mission; the collection of new and very slightly worn shoes, to contribute in a small way, to the dignity of our fellow Jamaicans in need. Our last drive raised 2,000 pairs of shoes for every ward in 23 institutions. We were moved like many other Jamaicans and groups to extend a helping hand in to the people of Haiti under a revised mantra"From our Soles to THEIRS"We need volunteers and we need your shoe gifts.

OUR GOAL - 10,00O SHOES.

Thousands of pairs of shoes have already been collected island-wide, and in collaboration with ODPEM, we aim to draw the public out this coming weekend (January 23 & 24), to ensure we reach our target.
